My name is Jeff, and I write this blog. I work as an interface designer in Denver, CO. I am also an amateur musician and an atheist.
IHOP (pancake), based in Glendale, Calif., has sued IHOP (prayer), based in Kansas City, for trademark dilution and infringement. The lawsuit, filed last week in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, essentially said a href=”http://www.kansascity.com/2010/09/14/2224629/ihop-the-pancake-maker-sues-ihop.html”>there was room for only one IHOP and that would be the restaurant chain that has been using the initials since 1973.
IHOP’s big problem is the church is using the initials, has expanded, and is apparently now selling food.
So, a federal judge has ruled that the national day of prayer is unconstitutional. There is no way in hell that this ruling will survive, so it’s not that big a deal. Daniel at Unreasonable Faith has an excellent suggestion though: A national day of blasphemy! I’m always a fan of fixing problems with more freedom rather than less.
Perhaps May 6th should be a day for both prayer and blasphemy.
For a low monthly fee, you can sign up to have a prayer of your choice said by a computer daily. God will know the prayer is from you because your name will be on the computer screen.
Are you forgetful? Subscribe and the computer will never forget to voice your prayers each day. Choose a religion on the left to see available prayers.
Do you work the late shift? Can’t make it to morning prayer? You can still get the feeling of having your prayers said on time by signing up for the Catholic Morning Prayer, Protestant Morning Prayer, Muslim Fajr Salat or the Jewish Morning and Evening Shema.
If your children don’t pray anymore sign them up for one of the many daily prayers available for each religion (click categories at the left). You may also want to have a prayer said for them directly. The prayer for children is the cheapest Information Age Prayer service at only $1.99 a Month. Pray for a child here.
