Scott Walker is the Republican candidate for governor in Wisconsin. (Not this Scott Walker, sadly.) Walker is a serious man, who has a 68-page jobs plan. Here are two pages from it:

This is how I graduated college.

UPDATE: After some painstaking research, I’ve discovered that Scott Walker’s jobs plan fits on two pages when set in 12pt Century Gothic. But trust me, it’s meaty.

Can you smell-ell-ell-ell-ell what Linda McMahon is cooking?

Fact: Richard Blumenthal is a big old douche for (at best) misleading people that he fought in Vietnam. Surprising, related fact: credit for his exposure probably goes to the campaign of one of his Republican opponents, Linda McMahon of Word Wrestling Entertainment (and Vince’s wife).

Can you smell ell ell ell ell what Linda McMahon is cooking?
From her Wikipedia page:

Linda McMahon was active in the wrestling ring from 1999-2001. During this time, she was in a staged feud with her husband, Vince McMahon. According to the storyline, Vince emotionally abused Linda to the point of a nervous breakdown, leaving her in a comatose state. Vince began a public extramarital affair with Trish Stratus as Linda watched on helplessly. Their feud reached a climax at Wrestlemania 17 when Linda awoke from her stupor and kicked Vince in the groin.

Catalogue of sins

Wonkette relays a wonderful list of sins, as decreed by the Family Research Council (you may know them from such hypocrisies as the rent boy.

There’s a special section of “State & National Sins”, which defines sins for citizens and leaders. All of them are gems, but I especially like these:

  • Judicial, legislative & executive actions affirming, fostering, promoting & exporting: abortion, infanticide, homosexuality & atheistic education (my bold)
  • Deceitfully leading America into New World Order
  • Thievery via confiscation of private property under veil of “environmental protection”
  • Thievery from all Americans via inflation
  • Imposition of Statism and Socialism in every arena of American life (schools, medicine, business, charity, etc.)

Obama’s not my pastor either?

It occurs to me that if the right-wing claim is true that the government can’t accomplish anything (aside from the moon landing I guess) and ruins anything it touches, shouldn’t religious conservatives want to keep church and state as separate as possible?

If You Vote for Health Care, Sen. Tom Coburn Will Not Forget, Will Make You Pay

Raising the bar on Republican opposition maneuvers in the Senate, Mr. Coburn on Thursday threatened to put future holds on any Democratic House members who switch their vote in favor of the health care bill, lose their election as a result next November, and then are rewarded with a high-ranking job in the Obama administration.

Classy.

Liberty University declares Democrats immoral

Liberty University, the evangelical school in Virginia founded by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell, is drawing heat Friday for its decision to revoke recognition of the College Democrats' chapter on campus.

According to the Lynchburg News & Advance, the school decided a week ago the organization “stood against the moral principles” held by the school and therefore could no longer be sanctioned.

The Mormons Baptized Obama’s Mom

In 2008, the Mormon Church baptized President Obama’s mother posthumously. Which didn’t surprise me much. But apparently the baptism was against the Mormon religious code because the dead are only supposed to be baptized when a living, Mormon relative submits them for it. And here I thought they were just baptizing the entire human race will-nilly.

Fox & MSNBC on Specter

An event like Arlen Specter’s party switch really brings out the differences between Fox & MSNBC.

Here’s MSNBC:

Veteran Republican Sen. Arlen Specter abruptly switched parties Tuesday, a move intended to boost his chances of winning re-election next year but also pushed Democrats within one seat of a 60-vote supermajority they need to push President Barack Obama’s agenda through the Senate.

“This is a painful decision,” said Specter at a Tuesday afternoon news conference. “I know that I’m disappointing a lot of my friends and colleagues…the disappointment runs in both directions.”

And Fox:

Veteran GOP Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania announced Tuesday he will switch political parties and run in the Democratic primary in 2010.

Republican voters had sent him to the Senate five times. But faced with the prospect of a strong challenge from conservative Pat Toomey in the GOP primary and the state trending Democratic, Specter issued a statement that he was going to jump ship.

“I deeply regret that I will be disappointing many friends and supporters,” Specter said at a news conference on Tuesday.

“I can understand their disappointment,” he continued. “I am also disappointed that so many in the party I have worked for for more than four decades do not want me to be their candidate. It is very painful on both sides.”

Love Fox’s emphasis on how sad Specter is that Republicans hate him for being a total loser. Of course MSNBC pushes the notion that Republicans are jerks and they push nice guys around, but as a partisan, I’m ok with that.
