74% of Arizona voters support law, assume that it will never be applied to them

The Morrison institute released a poll of registered voters in Arizona about SB 1070, Arizona’s racial-profiling-tastic immigration law. Voters like the law! They even like the specific components of the law when asked about them individually.

Voters also strongly supported the provision allowing police to detain anyone unable to verify their legal status, with 74 percent of respondents in favor of it. Ninety-three percent of Republicans and 73 percent of independents were in favor versus 50 percent of Democrats.

Yes, pretty much everyone in Arizona thinks they should have to carry proof of their citizenship whenever they want to leave their house. Or maybe just the Mexican-looking people have to. Either way…
